FDIC OIG Flexible Work Options
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Office of Inspector General (OIG) Flexible Work Options program benefits employees by providing flexibility to balance their work and personal lives. This policy will be reviewed by OIG Executives annually from its effective date, and the policy may be revised at that time. The following options may be available, as specified in the vacancy announcement, and subject to management approval based on mission, staffing, and workload requirements:
OIG Flexible Telework Option
- OIG employees may telework up to 50 percent of the time (on average per pay-period).
- Flexible Telework can be recurring according to an agreed-upon schedule, situational, or episodic.
- OIG employees must be able to work from the office, field locations, or home.
- The employee’s duty station is their assigned FDIC Office (for example: Washington, DC with assigned work space in Arlington, VA).
- Travel commuting expenses or time spent in travel between the employee’s residence and duty station will not be reimbursed or compensated.
- Locality pay will be determined by the location of duty station, not the employee’s residence.
- OIG employees in the Flexible Telework option will receive parking OR transit benefits on the same basis as FDIC employees in its Traditional Telework program at their official duty station.
OIG Work from Home/Field Option
- OIG employee may regularly telework more than 50 percent of the time, up to 100% (on average per pay-period)
- Work from Home/Field Telework can be recurring according to an agreed-upon schedule, situational, or episodic.
- OIG employees must be able to work from the office, field locations, or home.
- The employee’s duty station is their assigned FDIC Office (for example: Washington, DC with flexible workspace in Arlington, VA).
- Travel commuting expenses or time spent in travel between the employee’s residence and duty station will not be reimbursed or compensated.
- Locality pay will be determined by the location of duty station, not the employee’s residence.
- OIG employees in the Flexible Telework option will receive parking OR transit benefits on the same basis as FDIC employees in its Traditional Telework program at their official duty station.
FDIC OIG Work Schedules
The FDIC OIG permits a variety of work schedule options. These include expanded starting and stopping time bands, pre-selection of a variable daily start time, pre-selection of a 30-, 45-, or 60- minute lunch period, a compressed work schedule, and a flexible work schedule (with credit hours). In addition to vacation time, employees enjoy 11 paid federal holidays each year.
Eligible employees accrue annual leave based on years of federal service. Eligible employees also earn up to 13 days of sick leave each year.
